Whisky Burn is illustrated with twelve oil paintings done by the author at various points during the trip. Ben uses a technique perfected over his many Vespa journeys. The supports are, 30 x 20 cm wooden panels sealed with traditional rabbit skin glue, a technique passed down by the artists of the Renaissance.
To protect the fresh oil paint, he employs a system of placing pencils at either edge of the boards, then taping one against the other. Along with the paintings are pen and ink sketches of each distillery visited during the trip.
